Folgaria
Lying on the widest plan of the homonym Plateau, that extends on the southern side of the Mount Cornetto, Folgaria is divided into different districts (Somo, Ponte San Giovanni, Piazza, Valle and Villa) and develops along the main street rising from the Adige Valley. That street continues until the Tablelands of Lavarone and Luserna.
The quarter of Somo is one of the most characteristic historical centres, with the small Chapel dedicated to Virgin Mary, and the building where in past times people deposited the tenth part of the harvest for the feudal duty at the Castello di Beseno.
Folgaria is an important winter and summer resort: in summer time it is an ideal place for relax, sport, walks and excursions; in winter time it is a modern ski area called Skitour dei Forti, that offers 60 Km of downhill ski slopes with 6 chair-lifts of four places. It is the most important ski area of the Southern Trentino, far 18 Km from Rovereto and 25 from Trento. Also fans of nordic skiwill not disappoint: the Highlands offer three of the more renowned cross-country ski centres in all the Alpine area, where important international competitions take place.
